During the month of May, the PTTC participated in a very successful workshop in Midland TX, Optimized Horizontal Well Technology. This workshop was just a taste of a more in-depth school available on the topic, and there will be a second workshop, most likely in September. Other workshops in the planning stage, are one on wellbore management, probably to be held in Southeast New Mexico in the early fall, as well as one on some Excel spreadsheet applications developed here at New Mexico Tech, and one that will present some of the GIS work we have done. Other suggestions for workshop topics are always welcome, just contact me via email (martha@prrc.nmt.edu) or phone 505.835.5685.

The DOE has announced the continuation of its popular PUMP program(Identification and Demonstration of Preferred Upstream Management Practices II (PUMP II) for the Oil Industry. More information can be found at the National Energy Technology's website in the solicitations section (.http://www.netl.doe.gov/business/solicit/index.html) The closing date for solicitations is August 14. Also, now available online through the DOE is a copy of the President's National Energy Policy. Our readers are urged to take a look at the Department of Energy's Website, http://www.energy.gov/, which has undergone a recent facelift. The new site has much-improved navigation, and provides links to thousands of pages of data and information.

Speaking of facelifts, both of our websites, GO-TECH, and the Southwest PTTC site, have recently been redesigned. We hope our users find the sites useful and user-friendly. Feedback on our new designs is greatly appreciated. The Industry Service and Outreach Group has a new employee, Ms. Jenny Ma, who will be our Database Programmer and Administrator. Ms. Ma has several years of experience with database design and programming, and will be a very useful and valued member of our team.
