May, 2001

The last quarter of 2000 was a busy time for the PRRC and the PTTC. In October, Dr. Robert Lee received the Pete Porter award from the New Mexico Oil Conservation Division for his outstanding service to the New Mexico oil and gas industry. In November, the PTTC presented its workshop on Excel Spreadsheet Applications in Farmington, New Mexico. This hands-on software workshop was favorably received and we will be taking this workshop to the southeast part of the state in the late spring or summer of 2001. In the meantime, the software can be downloaded from our website at http://octane.nmt.edu/software/. We have two workshops coming in the very near future, the Lewis Shale workshop, February 21 in Albuquerque NM, and then April 5-7 the Underdeveloped and Low Permeability Gas reservoirs of New Mexico here in our own hometown of Socorro.

The Petroleum Technology Transfer Council, led by Executive Director Don Duttlinger, has moved its Headquarters office to Houston, Texas. This is part of the PTTC's plan for enhancing communications and connections with the independent oil and gas industry. Kathy Chapman, the PTTC's Director of Business Affairs, will remain in the Washington DC area maintaining a PTTC presence there. Lance Cole continues as the National Project Manager at Oklahoma, and the PTTC has hired a new Communications Coordinator, Alma Smith, to work in the Houston office. New contact information for the PTTC is 2916 West T.C. Jester Blvd, Suite 103, Houston TX 77018. Phone numbers are 713-688-0900 or 888-THE-PTTC/888-843-7882.

The Industry Service and Outreach Group has had some personnel changes in recent months also. Bob Emery, leader of the ISOG for the past two years, has stepped down to pursue a career in private industry. Martha Cather will be taking Bob's place. She has been active with this group for three years and is quite familiar with all of the activities and goals of the ISOG. Annette Carroll, Technical Programs Coordinator at PRRC, will be stepping in to help with the group's activities.
