American Association of Drilling Engineers (AADE)
AADE was founded in 1978 to provide a consistent technical exchange specifically
for drilling engineers. An all volunteer organization, AADE is made up of
affiliated independent chapters that have forums for the dissemination of
practical drilling technology to those employed as drilling engineers.
American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG)
AAPG is the world's largest geological society, with approximately 31,000
members in 115 countries. AAPG was formed in 1917, to foster the spirit of
scientific research among its members and to advance the science of geology -
particularly as it relates to petroleum, natural gas, and mineral resources.
American Association of Professional
Landmen (AAPL)
AAPL is the leading international land and resource management association with
membership exceeding 7,000. AAPL unites professionals in the oil, natural gas
and mining industries and offers certification and education programs,
publications, and networking opportunities.
American Geological Institute (AGI)
AGI is a nonprofit federation of 31 geoscientific and professional associations
that represent more than 100,000 geologists, geophysicists, and other earth
scientists. Founded in 1948, AGI provides information services to geoscientists,
serves as a voice of shared interests in the profession, plays a major role in
strengthening geoscience education, and strives to increase public awareness.
American Petroleum Institute (API)
API is the major national trade association representing the entire petroleum
industry: exploration and production, transportation, refining, and marketing.
With petroleum councils in 33 states, it is a forum for all parts of the oil and
natural gas industry to pursue priority public policy objectives and advance the
interests of the industry in a legally appropriate manner.
Association of American State
Geologists (AASG)
AASG is an organization of the chief executives of the state geological surveys
in 50 states and Puerto Rico. The responsibilities differ from state to state,
but almost all function as an information source for their state government, and
some have regulatory responsibilities for oil and natural gas.
Association of Energy Service Companies (AESC)
AESC is the national trade association representing energy service companies and
providing legislative, educational, technical and safety information and support
to 600 member companies.
Association of Well Head Equipment
Manufacturers (AWHEM)
AWHEM is an international membership association established to proactively
influence value-added standards of well head and related equipment and to serve
as technical consultants to national and international standards bodies.
Completion Engineering Association (CEA)
CEA is a national non-profit group whose objectives are to advance the
state-of-the-art of well completion technology by providing a forum for the
presentation of proposals for related R&D projects and advising academic
organizations and other groups of the needs and interests of its members.
Drilling Engineering Association (DEA)
DEA was formed to advance the technology related to drilling wells by providing
a forum to present proposals for industry drilling-related projects. It explores
the different levels of interest in potential drilling related problems, and
aids in the development of future industry sponsored projects.
Energy Research Clearing House (ERCH)
ERCH was established in 1992 to undertake the task of facilitating research
projects which member companies agreed to fund jointly. It also helps industry
become aware of R&D sources. Membership is open to oil and gas companies,
service companies, and other interested organizations.
Gas Research Institute (GRI)
GRI is a research, development, and commercialization organization of the
natural gas industry. GRI's vision is to provide the leadership in gas research
and technology development to move the industry into improving service to
existing gas customers and significantly expanding major new market.
Ground Water Protection Council (GWPC)
GWPC is a nonprofit organization whose members consist of state and federal
agencies, industry representatives, environmentalists and citizens. Its purpose
is to promote and ensure the use of best management practices and fair but
effective ground water protection laws.
Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA)
IPAA is the national association for independent oil and natural gas producers.
Founded in 1929, it actively follows legislative and regulatory issues important
to its membership. Its mission: "Recognizing that an adequate and secure
supply of energy is essential to the national economy and the public well-being,
IPAA is dedicated to ensuring a strong, viable domestic oil and natural gas
industry."
Institute of Gas Technology (IGT)
IGT is an independent, not-for-profit center for energy and environmental
research, development, education, and information. Founded in 1941, its main
functions are to perform sponsored and in-house research, development, and
demonstration; provide educational programs and services; and disseminate
scientific and technical information.
International Association of Drilling
Contractors (IADC)
IADC is a national association designed to promote commitment to safety,
preservation of the environment and advances in drilling technology. Through
conferences, training seminars and a comprehensive network of technical
publications, IADC continually fosters education and communications within the
upstream petroleum industry.
International Association of
Geophysical Contractors (IAGC)
IAGC is an international trade association which represents the independent
service companies and geophysical departments of integrated oil companies.
Geophysical equipment manufacturers, data processing centers, data brokerage
firms, geophysical consultants, and other suppliers also are members.
Interstate Oil and Gas Compact
Commission (IOGCC)
IOGCC represents the governors of 36 states that produce virtually all the
domestic oil and natural gas. Since its creation in 1935, the IOGCC has worked
to carry out its mission by assisting states: maximizing domestic oil and
natural gas production, minimizing the waste of irreplaceable natural resources,
and protecting human and environmental health through sound regulation.
National Association of Royalty Owners (NARO)
NARO, which is the only national non-profit association for royalty owners, is
dedicated to serving the needs of the nation's 4 million owners of sub-surface
oil and gas rights. It provides its 5,000 members in 47 states with information
necessary to the profitable management of this vital mineral asset.
National Association of State Energy Officials
(NASEO)
NASEO, founded in 1986, is a nonprofit corporation whose membership includes
energy officials from the state and territory energy offices and affiliates from
the private and public sectors. It is the state energy officials Washington
Voice on national energy issues.
National Ocean Industries Association (NOIA)
NOIA is the only national trade association representing all facets of the
domestic offshore petroleum industry. Founded in 1972, its members include
producers of crude oil and natural gas, oil field service companies and others
with an interest in exploring for and producing offshore energy resources in an
environmentally responsible manner.
National Petroleum Council (NPC)
NPC is a federally chartered and privately funded advisory committee of
approximately 175 persons. The purpose of NPC is solely to advise, inform, and
make recommendations to the U.S. Secretary of Energy with respect to any matter
relating to oil and natural gas.
Natural Gas Supply Association (NGSA)
NGSA is a non-profit trade association that represents integrated and
independent companies that produce and market domestic natural gas. Established
in 1965, NGSA encourages expanded use of natural gas and a regulatory climate
that fosters competitive markets.
Petroleum Equipment Suppliers Association (PESA)
PESA comprises equipment manufacturers, wellsite service companies, and supply
companies serving the petroleum industry. PESA's primary objectives are to
afford a means of cooperation with the government; to promote the progress of
the industry and members; and to collect and disseminate data of interest to
petroleum-related industries.
Petrotechnical Open Software Corporation (POSC)
POSC is an international not-for-profit membership corporation. It is uniquely
designed to unite industry people, issues and ideas to facilitate E&P
information sharing and business process integration. POSC provides open
specifications for information modeling, information management, and data and
application integration over the life-cycle of E&P assets.
Production Engineering Association (PEA)
PEA is an international trade association with a membership of 30 upstream oil
companies. Its objective is to improve the state of the art in all operations
and equipment related to hydrocarbon production.
Reservoir and Recovery Forum (RRF)
RRF is an oil and gas industry forum organized to describe and develop cutting
edge technology for issues dealing with reservoir description and management.
Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG)
SEG promotes the science and education of exploration geophysicists. The Society
fosters the expert and ethical practice of geophysics in the exploration and
development of natural resources, in characterizing the near-surface, and in
mitigating earth hazards.
Society of Independent Professional Earth
Scientists (SIPES)
SIPES is a national non-profit organization whose purpose is to serve the
professional and technical needs of individual earth scientists who are self
employed or are free to choose their own clients.
Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE)
SPE is the largest individual-membership organization serving engineers,
scientists, and managers in the exploration and production segments of the
worldwide oil and gas industry, with more than 50,000 members. SPE's mission is
to collect, disseminate, and exchange technical information; and to provide
opportunities for individuals to maintain technical competence.
Society of Professional Well Log Analysts (SPWLA)
SWPLA is a non-profit scientific society of almost 3,200 members worldwide who
are interested in the field of formation evaluation through use of well logging
techniques. Formed in 1959, it promotes recognition of log analysis as an
integral tool to measure new formation parameters. SPWLA also promotes the
interchange of ideas to enhance the data interpretation.

Alaska Oil and Gas Association (AOGA)
AOGA is a trade association established for fostering the long-term viability of
the oil and gas industry in Alaska. Formed in 1989, as a separate entity, AOGA
provides a forum for communication and cooperation with its members, with the
public and with local, state and federal governments.
California Independent Petroleum Association (CIPA)
CIPA is a non-profit, non-partisan trade association representing 500+
independent crude oil and natural gas producers, service and supply companies
operating in California. CIPA represents member interests before the state
legislature, Congress and various federal, state and local regulatory agencies.
Colorado Oil & Gas Association (COGA)
COGA is a non-profit industry trade association formed in 1984. Its mission is
"to foster and promote the beneficial, efficient, responsible and
environmentally sound development, production and use of Colorado oil and
gas."
Illinois Oil & Gas Association (IOGA)
IOGA was founded in 1946 to promote the welfare of the Illinois Basin oil
operators. The organization is composed of 450 companies whose livelihood is the
oil business.
Independent Oil & Gas Association of New York (IOGA of NY)
IOGA of NY is a non-profit trade association formed to protect, promote, foster
and advance the common interests of oil and gas producers and related
industries, including contractors, allied service industries and professionals
serving the oil and gas industry in NY.
Independent Oil & Gas Association of PA (IOGA of PA)
IOGA of PA is a non-profit trade association working to successfully represent
the state's natural gas and oil producing industry.

West Virginia (IOGA-WV)
Formed in 1959, IOGA-WV is a statewide trade association representing companies
engaged in all facets of the oil and natural gas industry in West Virginia. Its
primary focus is to promote and protect a strong, competitive oil and gas

Independent Oil Producers Association Tri-State (IOPA)
IOPA Tri-State is the oil producer's connection with Washington DC. It
represents the Tri-State area (Indiana, Illinois & Western Kentucky). At the
national level, it closely monitors activities in Congress and the Federal
government as they pertain to the small independent oil producer.
Independent Petroleum Association of Mountain
States (IPAMS)
IPAMS is a non-profit, non-partisan trade association representing the interests
of independent oil and natural gas producers, royalty owners, industry
consultants and service/supply companies operating in a thirteen-state Rocky
Mountain area.
Independent Petroleum Association of New Mexico (IPANM)
IPANM is an organization that represents nearly 400 oil and gas producers and
royalty owners on a variety of concerns, primarily dealing with state and
federal issues.
Indiana Oil & Gas Association (IOGA)
IOGA acts as a liaison between the Indiana Division of Oil & Gas (state
regulatory agency) and the oil and gas producers. IOGA also keeps pace with
legislative issues at the state level .
Kansas Independent Oil & Gas
Association (KIOGA)
Organized in 1935, KIOGA represents a broad state-wide voice with the
independent oil and gas operations and supporting industry throughout Kansas. It
represents its members in state and national issues, legislation, tax,
environmental, natural gas and crude oil issues.
Kentucky Oil & Gas
Association (KOGA)
KOGA is a membership organization formed in 1929 to protect and advance the
interest of the oil and gas industry in Kentucky; oppose any unfair and unjust
legislation which may adversely affect the industry; and, disseminate reliable
information.
Louisiana Independent Oil & Gas
Association (LIOGA)
LIOGA was organized to represent the independent sector of the oil and gas
industry in Louisiana. Its primary goal is to provide industry with a working
environment that will enhance the industry, creating incentives, warding off tax
increases, changing existing, burdensome regulations and educating the public
and government of the importance of the oil and gas industry in the state.

Association (LMOGA)
LMOGA represents all sectors of the oil and gas industry in Louisiana and
the Gulf of Mexico. It is dedicated to the advancement of the state's petroleum
industry through legislative and regulatory means.
Michigan Oil and Gas Association (MOGA)
MOGA represents the exploration, drilling, production, transportation,
processing and storage of crude oil and natural gas in the State of Michigan.
MOGA has over 1,000 members which include independent oil companies, major oil
companies and the exploration arms of various utility companies.
Mississippi Independent Producers & Royalty Owners (MIPRO)
MIPRO is an association of independent producers, landowners, and royalty owners
organized to unite and protect themselves against legislative or regulatory
threats to their existence and to protect the rights of each owner in the
production of oil and gas.
New Mexico Oil & Gas Association (NMOGA)
NMOGA was founded in 1929 to provide a collective forum through which the oil
and gas industry can maintain involvement with New Mexico citizens and the
political system. It provides a means for its members to work together
effectively to avoid discriminatory, unfair, or unnecessary regulation or
legislation harmful to the conduct of the oil and gas business in the state.
North Texas Oil & Gas Association (NTOGA)
NTOGA represents 1,275 members in 13 states and 123 cities. Organized in 1930,
NTOGA provides information about industry and government news through a monthly
magazine, newsletters and its membership directory. Other activities include
expositions and meetings in Dallas and Wichita Falls.
Ohio Oil and Gas Association (OOGA)
OOGA was formed in 1947 to protect, promote, foster and advance the common
interests of those engaged in the oil and gas industry; to protect the industry
against unfair and burdensome regulations and taxation; to collect and
disseminate pertinent data; to promote better operating practices and improved
producing methods; and to conserve oil and gas and prevent the waste thereof.
Oklahoma Independent Petroleum Association (OIPA)
OIPA provides governmental representation, as well as other oil and gas
informational services, to the Oklahoma independent energy producing sector. It
is a recognized leader in oil and gas advocacy, public education and technology
dissemination.
Oklahoma Marginal Well Commission
(MWC)
The MWC was created by the Oklahoma Legislature in 1992 with mandates to help
Oklahoma oil and gas producers in the management of their marginally producing
oil and gas wells. The MWC works though a variety of programs to extend the
productive life of stripper wells.
Oklahoma Midcontinent Oil and Gas
Association
As one of the oldest petroleum associations in the U.S., it is composed of oil
and gas producers, operators, purchasers, pipelines, transporters, processors
and service companies which represent a substantial sector of the oil and gas
industry within Oklahoma. It is dedicated to the advancement of the state's oil
and gas industry through legislative and regulatory means.
Panhandle Producers & Royalty Owners'
Association (PPROA)
PPROA is a trade association representing the oil and gas producers, service
companies, and royalty owners in the Texas Panhandle, Eastern New Mexico, the
Oklahoma Panhandle and Southwestern Kansas.
Pennsylvania Oil & Gas Association (POGA)
POGA's purpose is to promote the economic health and general welfare of
Pennsylvania's crude oil and natural gas extraction industry.
Permian Basin Petroleum Association (PBPA)
PBPA is a regional oil and gas trade association - representing the Permian
Basin industry which produces 64% of the Texas oil production and 20% of oil
production in the lower 48 states. It lobbies for 1200 industry members both at
the state and federal level.
Texas Independent Producers & Royalty
Owners Association (TIPRO)
Founded in 1946, TIPRO is the largest statewide organization representing
independent oil and gas producers and royalty owners. TIPRO concentrates its
efforts in government relations, public communications and business services.
TIPRO also hosts an online information system for the oil and gas industry, The
Energy Connection.
West Central Texas Oil
& Gas Association (WeCTOGA)
WeCTOGA is a non-profit trade association formed in 1933 to represent the oil
and gas industry in Texas from the Fort Worth/Dallas area to Big Spring in the
west, and from Graham to San Angelo in the south. Its 1,000 members are mostly
independent producers. WeCTOGA monitors the regulatory, legislative and
executive branches of both the state and federal government.
West Virginia Natural Gas Association (WVONGA)
Formed in 1915, WVONGA is the only trade association in West Virginia that
serves the entire oil and natural gas industry, including exploration,
production, transmission, storage, sales and distribution. It is involved in a
broad range of economic, environmental, legal and regulatory issues.
Western States Petroleum Association (WSPA)
WSPA is a non-profit trade association that represents the bulk of petroleum
exploration, production, refining, transportation and marketing in the six
western states of Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, Oregon and Washington.
Founded in 1907, WSPA is dedicated to ensuring reliable access to petroleum
through policies that are socially, economically and environmentally
responsible.
